Prayer of a believer

on September 29, 2011

Last week we prayed for an elderly lady with chest and back problems. The pain was so severe that she wanted prayer before the cell meeting started. We could feel the spirit moving through praise, worship and prayers. We have faith that the Lord has granted our petition because he says that he hears us.

This week the same lady missed the prayer meeting and sends a message that she was sick. To be honest I was disappointed and upset that the Lord has not healed the lady. I know that pastors list a lot of reasons for people not getting healed. I understand the issues of salvation and forgiveness but I also know when Jesus walked the earth he healed all.  For me the issue is settled- it is the will of God to heal and to heal all– not some and not sometimes.

When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick (Matthew 8:16). ( Also see Matthew 12:15)

I know that scripture says that we need to sin no more in order to keep our healing. Sin no more means to give our heart to God. Without doing this we do not have the helper the Holy Spirit to help us through trials and temptations.

God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. (Acts 15:8)

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)

When we spoke to the lady she confirmed that the Lord healed her from the previous week’s illnesses however this week she has a new complaint of nausea. We praised the Lord for standing on his promises about healing and started praying for this week’s sickness to flee from her.

We were three adults and one child who prayed. Maybe my make-up is a bit different to other people but it takes me longer than some people to sense the presence of the Holy Spirit however I do not go by feeling but go with what I know. The word says that where two or three are gathered in my name (are in agreement) there I am in their midst. So I act by faith not on feeling. I believe that the Lord hears us when we pray; I believe that heavens open when we pray; I believe that fire falls when we pray. I believe all this whilst praying for this lady.

He said, “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.”

(Exodus 15:26)

When we finished our prayer, the lady prayed a simple prayer and immediately I could feel the presence of Holy Spirit. I confirm this to the group. I believe that the Lord wants us to be able to pray for ourselves. Yes, he listens to intercessors but he wants us to have an intimate relationship with him. He rejoices and has compassion when we boldly approach his throne. In his heart rise up love for us and he is true to his word. His word does not return void. We give glory to our Lord our healer.

Over the next 5 days I will leave testimonies of healing or breakthrough, which I have seen with my own eyes
In order to encourage me to write about these experiences please leave a comment of what happened in your life. I would like to hear from you. Tell us about God showing up in your life. Amen.
